June morning
the house wren's endless chatter
a second cup
This little guy wakes me up and keeps at it all day long. His nest is in the birdhouse on the porch. I know it's summer when I take my second cup of coffee on the porch with him.
The Friday Poetry Roundup is over at Carol's Corner. Enjoy!

Sweet wake-up poem, Andi :). Pretty wren.
Oh - I LOVE this poem and the photo! Thanks for sharing. I'm so happy to have nesting wrens on the back patio this year, too. :0)
(My kind of Twitter!)
I love the last line of your haiku -- so suggestive.
Great image Andi! I've been enjoying coffee on the porch with the birds every morning this week!
Wow..perfect shot for a perfect haiku. He does look like a bust fell!
Great photo!
And huzzah for the second cup of coffee on the porch with wren-song!!
I'm moving classrooms, so I didn't much get my first day of freedom on the first day out. I'll enjoy leisurely mornings tomorrow and Sunday (and no lessons to plan or papers to grade -- WOOT!!) then get back to the moving on Monday.
Beautiful photo of the wren. I remember when I used to stay with my cousins in the Philippines I would always wake up to the sweet chirping of the birds outside. Simple life. Thanks for sharing your haiku! =)
I believe you just wrote a terrific description of a very nice vacation. It's that "second cup" that got me. Thanks Andi.
Sounds very peaceful. I could use a little of that!
Ohhhh, I love summer! This is beautiful.
Beautiful!
"a second cup" says so much--
I love this. How sweet to have a bird sharing your home and mornings.
