Advent One Haiku

early morning

Advent's first light a
slight rose behind charcoal trees;
new candle tips

Advent is the church's celebration of the four weeks in December waiting and anticipating the birth of Christ. One new candle is lit each week building to a blaze of light on Christmas. We are lighting candles at the dinner table. I've got my new camera and am looking for the light.

Lovely haiku, and what a succinct poetic form to celebrate the season. We have a wreath on our table, too, which we lit the first candle of on Monday!

Oh, beautiful.
I know a family who sings one verse of Veni, Veni, Immanuel every week, 'til they sing the whole song. How lovely, and what a great photograph. Is your camera working again, or is that an old one?

tadmack that is a great idea! I try to sing "We Light The Advent Candles", which my boys are singing in the children's choir at church, but sometimes my waverling little voice is the only one paying attention.

The camera is new and I'm having fun with it! It's a Canon Powershot A590 IS.

What a beautiful photo of advent. I saw the haiku in it without even reading the lines.
