Cybils: what's not on the lists yet?

I've been watching the Cybils nominations over the past week and making my nominations. We only have five more days to put books on the lists! The Cybils are the "Children's & Young Adult Blogger's Literary Awards. This is the only book award started, run and awarded by bloggers. We focus on the very best books with strong kid appeal that have been published in the last year. Anyone can nominate one book in each category. I've used my votes already so I'm going to list some suggestions for those of you who haven't done it yet.

Book Not Yet Nominated for Easy Readers:

Young Cam Jansen and the Molly Shoe Mystery by David A. Adler
Biscuit and the Little Pup by Alyssa Satin Capucilli

Snack Attack by Stephen Krensky

Annie and Snowball and the Teacup Club by Cynthia Rylant

Benny and Penny in Just Pretend by Geoffrey Hayes

Dog and Bear: Two's Company by Laura Vaccaro Seeger

You can read short reviews of these books and many other beginning readers at the ACPL Mock Geisel blog.

Please note: Each book only needs to be nominated ONCE. If it's on the list it will be carefully considered by the panel. Only the very best four or five books will be chosen in each category to go to the judges, who will then pick one winner. It doesn't make a difference how many people have nominated it. Please check the comments at the Cybils site to see if your pick has already been named. If it's on the list add your second choice. Thanks so much for participating!

Check out all the rest of the categories and check the comments to see what's been nominated:

Get on over there and drop some titles!
Any bloggers who are posting lists of books nominated or not, please let me know and I'll do a round up on Monday.

I am still holding my Easy Reader Card in hand...thanks for the list!

BTW, the book you nominated in Sci Fi had already made it to the list, if you have another one you'd like to put in...I have the whole list up at my place (the link to it is on the top right).

Thanks for telling me Charolotte! That is a fabulous list you have going. I don't know if I can add anything but I sure will try.

Thanks for the list. William nominated his choice early, though it was a toss up between Mr. Putter and Tabby and Mercy Watson. You can see which one won.

I have a copy of Maybe a Bear Ate It and it is definitely a picture book, not an easy reader.

Thanks Trisha. I saw Maybe a Bear on the mock Geisel list and thought it could be either way. http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/children/geisel_current.html

I should go check the cybils picture book list and see if it's nominated yet...

Well I don't think Maybe a Bear Ate It is on either list yet, so somebody please nominate it either way! I think it's one of those picture books that kids can read when they are in beginner books, so that makes it an "easy reader" in my book. I don't know what the Cybils committees will decide.

Third time's a charm for me to post this link correctly.

Thanks for making this list! It's terrific.

I made a similar list too for early readers here.

Susan, thanks for telling me that. You should go over to the Cybils site and comment there. I think they are doing a round up of list posts.

I just left a link at the Cybils blog of my post. And Mercy Watson Thinks Like a Pig has finally been nominated. Yay!

I just nominated Maybe a Bear Ate It.

Thanks for reminding me. I was trying to think of a book for this category. Honestly, I was confused, thinking that this would be a picture book, because when I was thinking of "Easy Reader" I was thinking of those little paperback books.

But my almost-reading four-year-old son and I have enjoyed this book for the past several months, so I'm happy to nominate it!

Yay Jennifer! I think it's and Easy Reader too. I don't know what the final verdict will be but it's on one list or the other now. Thanks!
