illustrated by Tim Warnes. Simon & Schuster, 2008 board book edition. Warnes has illustrated the classic hymn Jesus Loves Me with scenes from life in a warm, loving family of bears. The text is spread out throughout the book with a line or two for each picture. It includes the familiar first verse, the chorus and a couple of verses I had never heard before. I bought it for my three year old's Easter basket because of the cheerful spring theme and because that is his favorite bedtime lullaby.The bears are working in the garden together, fishing, gathering eggs, decorating them for Easter and enjoying an egg hunt on bright spring days. It starts early in the morning and ends with a sweet bedtime story. The board book format is perfect for little hands. We are greatly enjoying it in our evening story time. This is one I plan to pass on in many gifts.
