Diamonte

Miss Rumphius's Monday Poetry Stretch this week was to make a poem including these six words: snake, candle, bucket, ocean, friend, hole. I wrote this Diamante poem:

Anger is a snake.
Curled lightening
flashing, exploding, smoldering -
a candle in a holey bucket on the ocean of sense.
Burning, drifting, arriving
friendless in tidal
rage.

A diamante is a diamond-shaped poem using particular parts of speech in each line. Read more and make your own: http://www.readwritethink.org/materials/diamante/

It could be a great end of the year activity for the classroom.
