The Cybils short lists of best books of 2006 in eight categories are up on the website now. The categories are:

- Non-fiction Picture Books
- Young Adult Fiction
The Cybils are the new blogger book awards for children's literature, started earlier this year by Kelly at Big A, Little a and Anne at BookBuds. Bloggers from all over nominated their favorite books and committees have been hard at work choosing the top 5 best books in each category. Now the judging committees get to work debating and choosing the most outstanding title in each area. I am on the Non-fiction Picture Book judging panel, so my fellow committee members and I will be scrutinizing these top five books:
